Storm 0.9b1 COLOR
This is an Adventure Game
Mactivity's CD-ROM nr 10 advice: This application did
run on a color 68030 processor under System 7.1, but
the behaviour on a ColorScreen of a PowerMacintosh
running System 7.1.2 was not satisfying. Our advice:
use only on 68030 processors, or try with caution
on a 68040 processor
Attention: needs a COLOR monitor.
The files that you have just unpacked are part of an
evaluation release of Project STORM. What this means
is that the product itself is not ready and should
not be viewed as a fully debugged and working program.
The game is also limited, but only because there hasn't
been enough time to complete all the work. Why are
we releasing this package?
We have shown similar versions to this one to several
game publishers, but for various reasons, the publishers
have not been interested in Project STORM. Since going
commercial appears to be more trouble than it's worth,
STORM is going to be released as a free program, the
way that it was originally intended. The game itself
is only a small part of STORM. More importantly, an
animation toolkit and a sampled sound kit have been
developed and can be used for other games. Think C
source code for these kits will be made available later,
as shareware. Right now, none of the STORM programming
team members have a lot of time available, so if you
want to see this game completed, let us hear about
you.
What's missing?
The game editor is not included in this release, so
you'll have to do with only eight distinct game levels.
This stinks, but it's the way that it is. The author
of the editor is Sampo Kellomäki and he can be
contacted as sampo@niksula.hut.fi.
The titles and high score routines have bugs, probably
lots of them. If you want something done about the
titles, contact the author, Janne Frösen, jaf@niksula.hut.fi.
I wrote the game play itself and the animation and sound
routines, so if you have problems with those, feel
