Glider Design!
This is an Educational Game
Mactivity's CD-ROM nr 10 advice: This application did
run on a b/w 68030 processor under System 7.1. It was
also tested on a big ColorScreen of a PowerMacintosh
running System 7.1.2. The game was also tested on a
Quadra with 68040 processor and a 13 inch Color Screen
and System 7.1 by Mactivity.
This program is being distributed just for your enjoyment.
Docs are not written yet, so don't ask for them (but
you can ask for advice). This program is a Computer
Aided Design program which allows you to design balsa
wood gliders, then prints plans up for them. When
the program starts up, it looks for a file called DEFAULT
DATA in the same folder as the program. This file
contains information about the balsa wood to be used
to build the gliders. There is an option under the
File menu to create new DATA files. I highly recomend
that a new DATA file is created when ever you
buy new wood. You can purchase wood at almost any hobby
shop. I recomend you buy 1/8" X 4" X 48"
sheets of balsa wood for the wings and 3/16" X
1/2" X 48" sticks of spruce for the fuselage
-- but you can get what ever is avialable. Notice
that Glider Design! works in centimeters only! Future
upgrades will make the units switchable, but no dice
for now. The program will not let you do some "stupid"
things in you design of the glider. If you want to
do something in the design, and the program won't let
you, it is
probably because what you want to do is stupid. Once
you have finished with a design, select Compute Forces
from the Calculate menu. This will tell you if your
glider will fly or not, and if not, then why not and
how to fix it.
