First Lessons In Math 1.2
This is a Kids Game
This is an Educational Game
Mactivity's CD-ROM nr 10 advice: This application did
run on a b/w 68030 processor under System 7.1. It was
also tested on a big ColorScreen of The game was also
tested on a Quadra with 68040 processor and a 13 inch
Color Screen and System 7.1 by Mactivity. on Macintoshes
with 68040 processor.
First Lessons In Math v1.2, is prerequisite for children
learning math. Before children can learn to add and
subtract using real numbers, they must first develop
a conception for what the numbers mean. That is exactly
what "First Lessons In Math" accomplishes.
This program will take a preschooler by the hand and
teach them all the steps needed to add and subtract
real number equations. This program was written up
in the "Richmond Times" on June 28, 1993.
First Lessons In Math v1.2, will make a child's first
experiences with arithmetic fun and it will also give
them a big advantage over their school peers. This
program consists of seven different games that will
successively teach children to master the early levels
of mathematics.
1-How Many: This game will teach children the meaning
of numbers by having them count objects. Each example
will generate a random set of pictures, 5 pencils,
6 stars, 5 telephone's ect. The questions will be
an infinite combination and array of colored objects,
this will insure that children don't get bored or memorize
the patterns to the game. The talking teacher will
then ask them, "Mary, how many?". Students
must then click on the correct colored number block
or enter the number on the computer keypad. They
can use the number blocks, which function as a number
line, to count off the objects. Parents and teachers
will have the option of selecting the range of numbers.
First Lessons can be adjusted to generate object
sets no greater then two or three. This option will
allow children to learn the numbers in smaller increments.
2-Counting Up: This game will teach children to count
up. A progression of three numbers will be displayed
and the last number will be left out. MacinTalk will
say and show, "Dave, 1, 2, ?" or "Dave,
5, 6, ?". The student must then click on the
missing number.
3-Adding With Objects: This game will teach children
to add objects by using their newly developed skill
of counting. Two different random sets of objects
will be generated, a left set and a right set, separated
by a "plus sign". Macintalk will then say
"Dave 5 and 3 more equal, how many?". Children
will count up the objects from both sets to arrive
at the answer.
4-Adding With Numbers: This game teachers children
the practical application of adding with numbers.
Children will no longer need the object or pictorial
representation of numbers to figure out equations.
Lessons 1 through 3 has already taught them the value
of numbers. By the time they get to lesson 4, they're
off and running with math and they had a great deal
of fun getting there!
Lessons 5 through 7 parallel lessons 3 through 4 except
that they focus on teaching the skills needed for subtraction.
This America OnLine version of "First Lessons
In Math", includes all the lessons needed for
learning addition. That is a great value for the
price of a download. Please register your program
for just $15.00 and get the unlocking code for the
other lessons.
This program uses the original Macintalk. If you are
interest, please contact me about getting a new Macintalk
(Speech Manager) version. Second Lessons In Math will
soon be available. This program will teach the concepts
of burrowing and carrying. Site licensing available
for schools and districts. Balloon help is included.
